Your enthusiasm (and the fact that my video work has touched you and your love for Genesis/Steve Hackett/Anthony Phillips, so deeply) is infectious!
I so enjoyed being with Steve and Jo Hackett, the GR2 Band and Armando Gallo, a few weeks ago - as Armando debuted his new "I Know What I Like" App for Steve, at my collaborator Tom Lord-Alge's Miami Beach Home.
If you like my Genesis work...you'll be BLOWN AWAY by all the hard work that Armando, Cheryl (his wife) and Gabriel Foux (App Designer, from Argentina) have done to digitize his historic "I Know What I Like" book.
As you probably know, Armando was one of the first rock magazine photographers to cover Genesis (back in 1969, on)..and his compendium of historic photos of the group is unparalleled.
It was a dream come try for me (an ardent fan of the Gabriel/Hackett era of Genesis, since 1975) to film Armando showing Steve the new app (and all his old photos of Steve, et al) during this private debut showing).
I've been working very, very hard to meet the challenge of properly editing down such an historic occasion...one which I hope everyone (and you!) will equally enjoy.
A true, rare "behind-the-scenes" look into this longtime friendship between artist and photographic biographer!

So very glad you have recently become a "Lamb Lover" (like the rest of us)!


Yes, The Lamb has been known to get under one's skin...and stay embedded in your creative, intellectual consciousness - for a very long time.
For those of us who have known (and studied it) since 1974/75 - it tends to re-emerge in our individual psyche's in the most unique and wondrous fashions.
I have my video series, analyzing the historical takes of its back-meanings (which I had to grown long into adulthood to truly come close to understanding)...and there are many other artists or just plain folks who have it come to the forefront in wondrously creative ways!

I, for one, join you on the "mind-blowing" aspect of how intricate it has become (and been) for the gifted members of the original Genesis - to care for their incredible  musical compositions.
I am so grateful that you (and others) recognize this timeless gift..but, the work that has gone into to produce and preserve it for our continued enjoyment.
As an audio engineer (and long-time fan of the group, since 1975) - I know enough to be dangerous/enlightened as to how much devotion this has taken, over the years.
Since I have a 30-yr background in TV News, I also am dedicated to "setting and describing" the record STRAIGHT on all that is Genesis...preferably, straight from the horse's mouths, themselves.
There is a lot of misinformation and disinformation out there on the internet - about all sorts of Genesis-related topics.
I seek to visually present the TRUE facts, as they are related to me by those who were either in the band..or have worked with them through these past several decades.
I've been blessed with many new friendships - (Steve and Jo Hackett, the Lord-Alge Bros/Peter Gabriel, Nick Davis, Armando & Cheryl Gallo to name a few) ...and thanks to their kindness and support, strive to pass those insights on to you, my fellow early-Genesis lovers.


It's been (and continues to be) an amazing journey for me..a engineering/music-lover's dream come true) and I have all my YouTube & Vimeo subscribing-friends, like you,  to thank for this...

I'd like to tell you that your videos are fantastic.

 I've been a Genesis fanatic since 1975 and have been to numerous shows - basically whenever they come to southern California!

I saw Steve last spring and thought about doing the meet and greet but seriously, I figured I'd just act like a slobbering idiot if I was ever to meet one of them.

I first heard them at a party in 10 grade with a girl I'd later make a fool out of myself with (ah, youth...) but it was worth it in the long run as I found my favorite band.

Do you plan on making any more "analysis" videos? 
I think my favorite album is Selling England, but I love pretty much all of them. 
I've recently been listening to the first album and Trespass and the unreleased tracks in between. I try to learn as many parts as I can on guitar - in fact, the "Moonlit Knight" guitar parts I always played in A minor, but after seeing Steve play it from the 4th row I could see he was in C# minor.   More Fool Me.

I also love the Chapter and Verse book - the early stories are so powerful to me! 
Whenever they mention a town where they gigged, lived, or rehearsed, I get on Google Earth and "take a little trip back" to their homeland in those magical days.

And, lastly, my old band in the 80's were a bunch of Genesis freaks! 
The highest points in my life were writing and performing music - and I still play and learn!

I happen to be working on the release of several more Analysis videos (Analysis: Armando Gallo & Steve Hackett - IKWIL App Debut,  more Analysis: Steve Hackett Genesis Revisited 2 interviews..and trying to finally finish up the second half of my beloved  Analysis: Lamb Lies Down on Broadway videos).
Life has gotten in the way a bit (2013 was a very bad year for many...and it didn't spare my family, unfortunately ;-(  
But, I'm back and working off my little LiLeighWhite derriere to get all this raw footage edited down.)

I just discovered your site and am loving it so far! 

I'm so glad there are people who've done some dedicated research on this artistic world I've loved since childhood (I'm on the young end for early Genesis fans, and idolize TMB because it lets me travel back in time and experience what I never could have otherwise).

I've had a quick question about the Lamb that, looking at this site, I realized you could probably answer if anyone could. 
Is there any evidence to tell whether Rael or John is the older brother? I've always kind of assumed Rael was younger, just based on personality, but I could be completely wrong about that. 
I could see it working both ways. I'd be really curious to know.

It's so good to hear from not only a "young" lover of the Lamb...but, another woman (who loves this work, as much as I do)!
This is very heartening to me...as I feel this is an incredibly significant, romantic work for both men AND women, to enjoy together.  ;-)


Ok, to try to give you my best guess as to Peter's mind (when he was conceiving of the original idea of his alter-ego of Rael), based on my lengthy research.
Firstly, Peter  (nor any other member of Genesis) has ever intoned the age difference of John and Rael - in any interview I've ever read or heard.
As you know, Peter envisioned The Lamb to be a tale of self-discovery...a journey to the depth's of one's soul & back, in order to bring into focus the meaning of our respective existence, in this world.
Having entered into a life's fascination with Jungian Theory/Psychoanalysis of the various facets (dark and light) of ourselves, as human beings, Gabriel set out to do, in his words, a sort of "Pilgrim's Progress".
A Hero's Journey of the Self:  which John (the "good/enlightened" version of Rael)  and Rael (his "unenlightened/dark" side) - represent the split personalities of the Soul of this single, half-Puerto Rican street gang member.


Who would be considered "older" - I'm not sure if that actually applies?
But, let's postulate that Rael actually DID have an older brother named John (in the real world, outside the surrealistic underground, post-Fly-on-the-Windshield apocalyptic Wall sweeping through NYC, that Rael exists in - during the telling of the Lamb).
Peter had no brothers....only a younger sister ( Anne )...so, no familial reference, there.
Steve Hackett DOES have a brother named John, though....but, that John is younger than both Steve and Peter (he is a wondrously gift musicians, as well, by the way.  Amazing flute-player)!


So, it could go either way, I suppose -but,  if you want to take it further than the original premise that John/Rael are actually 2 sides of the same being =  no age difference, at all.

I can't believe that I've never been here before!! 

... the Lamb was a seminal album for me. 

I'd been a Genesis fan for years and watched them rise up through gigs in noisy college bars to larger and larger venues worthy of their soaring instrumentals and Peter Gabriel's inexhaustible antics. 

"Selling England by the Pound" had been an amazing album and we couldn't wait for this new body of work hatched in secret and surrounded by much rumour and speculation. 

The day arrived ... I bought the album ... raced home and sat transfixed for the next 90 minutes or so with my mouth open almost unable to fully absorb all of the sounds and emotions that were being literally thrown at me out of my (less than efficient) Wharfdales ... then I played it again ... and again ... and I've been playing it ever since. 
I still have the original vinyl ... it's on my iPod and permanently resides in my car, unlike me, it never gets old :)

I queued in the freezing cold for tickets ... the queue was, surprisingly, fairly short. 
Then Steve Hackett hurt his hand, tour postponed tickets refunded. 
Then the tickets went on sale again back to Manchester on another freezing cold morning ... the album had been out for quite a while by now and the queue was all the way around the block!! 
... I made it to the counter and, being in the days of the old swipe machine for credit cards, when I tried to sign my name my hands were so cold that I couldn't get a decent version of my signature. 
The guy was going to turn me away until my buddy got my ticket on his card, he has a higher tolerance to cold than I do :) 
So I almost missed the concert but, thankfully, when the night came there we were ... balcony seats for the most amazing gig I've ever attended ... and there have been many of them (Watcher of the Skies for an encore ... does it get any better).

Thanks so much for your incredible insight and knowledgeable videos ... you obviously love this piece of work as much as many of us do and it's a pleasure to watch each session.

What a personal HISTORY you have had with the band (reaching even from their earliest days)!
Bravo, my friend...bravo - to both you AND the friend who spotted you on the credit card purchase of those deliciously rare concert tickets!
I can only imagine (and dream) of what it was to be there, in the balcony with you...looking down on that now-iconic riser and  boulder-laden stage, with Gabriel attaching himself to the pneumatic hose (to inflate his hilariously-attached Slipperman costume balloon'd gonads, etc)!    *wheezing with delighted laughter*
I obviously have watched TMB's Denis Gagne perform this madcap maneuver, many times ...but, to have seen Gabriel, himself, confound the audiences of 1975 with this visual satire of Rael's chance meeting with VD must have been a once-in-a-lifetime experience.
I'm so very pleased that my humble website and documentary-videos on the Lamb have hit a tuning-fork of Lambs-Wool pleasure for you...one so close to the original presentation.

Hello Lileigh: 
I bought Genesis Revisited II last June, and it's fantastic; way better than today's pop music. 

I never get tired of listening because of Steve's refreshed playing including the beautiful acoustics on the last two Foxtrot tracks. 
I'm sure you know what they are ;--). 

Still have to buy the first GR, and some other solo albums by Steve.

Besides Genesis, are you into any other prog bands? 
Mine are Yes, Rush, Dream Theater, Muse, Alan Parsons and Porcupine Tree/Steven Wilson.

Will you be broadcasting on the 40th anniversary of the Lamb? 

What a year 1974 was. 

Also this year will mark 40 years of the Yes album Relayer, (released over one week after Lamb), Rush's debut, Rick Wakeman's Journey to the Centre of the Earth and Supertramp's Crime of the Century.

BTW, you look young and lovely in those photos, and meeting Peter and Steve had to be a joy for you.

Yes, what a year it was...1974.


I was 14 and just being introduced to portions of all the Progressive Rock albums you named, above, via New York City's silky-voiced nighttime female DJ - Alison Steele "The Nightbird" on WNEW-FM.
She was my inspiration to go into Radio, as a career...which led to my several decades in Television.


I agree it was, to us in free-form radio & progressive music, Halcyon Days of musical exploration - nearly free of corporate-controlled artists and their creative output.


People like Steve Hackett..and Peter Gabriel...and, yes, even Phil Collins (remember the searingly great stuff out of Brand X days?!?) could create things outside the purview of the stilted & time-constircted Top 40 playlists - and STILL be popular with/to us?
Of course, of course you can lump in there everyone from Yes to ELP to Gentle Giant to Genesis to Renaissance to (and the list goes on ;-)
It was OUR time...as fleeting as it was:   it belonged to us.


As for Genesis: Revisited II...it was (and still is!) the right time for it.
God bless Steve Hackett for continuing to be the Standard Bearer for this beloved music, for us.


He really loves doing his own solo music..he has every right to (for he is very, very gifted and prolific in composing his own works).
But, he realizes that we all love it so...and that the magically layered, mystically lyric'd and outrageously-complex early-Genesis compositions still means the world to us who bonded to it, in our younger years.


He wants  to bring it up-to-date, into the wondrously potent world of modern-day technology and presentation.
(Something that the other original members of Genesis never had the opportunity of doing, in a full beginning-to-end concert, given their other highly-different styles).


Although it is quite likely we will never see the original line-up do this early era, again, in person..its a superlative show.
The younger musicians he's assembled for the continuing WorldWide GR II Tour are quite exceptional, as well.
They do a very fine job at recapturing what is the core essence of the early-Genesis.


As for your compliment to my pictures (with Peter and with Steve)...I blush as I thank you, most sincerely, for your kindness.
I had hoped to radiate outwards all the joy of the inward listening to their gifts of music for the last 38 years.


The Music kept me company during many hours of loneliness and trying times.
And, I believe this to be true for most all of us.


We wrapped ourselves in it...its visuals portrayed via historic fables, socio-political satire and witty-barbs were tremendously amusing..as well as romantic.


A delight, all the way 'round.


As are everyone's comments who take the time to write to me, here, at my humble little website.
