Hi Lileigh!

You're wonderfull! Thanks for the analysis of all that great music.

When i see you describe Carpet Crawlers p.2 at 7:42, the closing of your eyes make me fall in love with you.

If i were in Florida, i will travel to you to thank you for your perfect work, with class and passion.

Here's a question for you:

Why don't you analysis TLLDOB with the studio version? Isolate the instruments, the voice, the effects,...?

I understand that the engineer side, those comparison is an interesting feature. To go through a studio version, that most of us have got, is another interesting subject.

Here's an other q:

When you compare "the old one" to "the new", you mean: the tape from 1978 to remaster 5.1 2007 Nick Davis CD?

I have the Archive vol.1. Can i buy the remaster CD Shrine concert seperately from the 2007 live Box set?

The stuff from the way we walk don't interest me so much: Gab was not there!

Thanks for your answer! Thanks for your excellent work. Long life to you!

Joel xx

Hello Lileigh,

I'm 47 and a Genesis fanatic since 14.
The first album I owned being Foxtrot after having heard it at a friends house and I was hooked immediately.
I had heard the title track of Lamb Lies Down On Broadway at the same time and I was also struggling to understand this Duke version of Genesis.
Anyhow or should I say Anyway lol, I'm am a life long multi instrumentalist who has extensively studied Genesis and I just happened upon you.
I am impressed with your résumé as well as your vast knowledge of the band.
To understand that there are polyrhythms being played over the Apocolypse 9/8 segment is something my contemporaries cannot wrap their heads around. You rock!

All my best to you,
Brian

Joel has just posted a comment on your blog post, LiLeighWhite.com Anniversary Wishes:

Here's a question for you, Lileigh:

can i buy the cd Live at the Rainbow and Shrine seperately from the box set?

I already have the Archive 1 but your analysis makes me believe that those ones are definitives upgrades of those two shows.

I have the first box set (gabriel years) in the SACD version, which was in import.

Long live to you and your analysis

Hi Lileigh..

Just found your absolutely stunning site on Genesis and thought I would thank you for making my day.
I have been a Genesis fanatic since I saw The Lamb in San Diego when I was in the 9th grade.
I was 15 like you.
I once saw them 3 times in one week during the Second's Out Tour.
The second day they played at The Roxy in Hollywood and I stood on the stair landing 3 feet above Banks and had my life changed.
That is me on page 120 in the Armando Gallo book when they did a meet and greet at Tower Records in San Diego.
I am the guy on the right of photo in my UFO skateboard shirt. I was a pro skater and they were signing my skateboard.
I still have it.
Thank you for everything and what a pleasure to know there is a fan out there like you.
I have an interesting side by side of Genesis and another band that if you are not aware will amaze you.

Blessings,
Gunnar

Lost for words the effort you put into presenting/analysing music that crosses the boundaries of brilliance yet so sadly overlooked by mainstream audiences!
Tears of nostalgia flow as I watch you emote your 'schtick' of interpretation so flawlessly!

She gonna take you thru the tunnel of night
Lilywhite lilith,
She gonna lead you right...........

Peace be on you......

PS I swear I met you before in Vancouver. BC

*FOR SERIOUS LAMB FANATICS ONLY !!!*

A
n Analysis of the many allegorical layers, written by Peter Gabriel, within the pivotal song "The Chamber of 32 Doors" on the original Lamb Lies Down on Broadway album.

Jungian Archetype Theory, The Power of Myth's Hero's Journey and the Tibetan Book of the Dead provide the framework with which Gabriel wrote of his pending decision to leave Genesis.
Add onto that the visual work of "El Topo" director Alejandro Jodorowsky, as Peter's inspiration - and you have one, very serious surrealistic work of art.

WARNING/ADVISORY:   This trilogy of videos are DEEP (because these metaphysical/psychoanalytical works were what Peter Gabriel had been reading up until the uber-rushed writing of The Lamb)!
Although, he claims the lyrics are flawed - many still consider it a layered work of genius.
Part Surrealism, Part Metaphysical, Part Self Psychoanalytical.

These videos are the result of 2 years of intense research and many contributions by many people (several, quite close to Peter Gabriel & Genesis).

As Tony Robinson wrote for the 1970-1975 Genesis Box Set: "It's a mistake to think of the narrative as only having one meaning because every listener must create their own personal story."
This trilogy's analysis is not set in concrete.  It is meant to elucidate upon the metaphysical texts by which Peter was reaching to obtain his own new pathway (out of the band and into his own solo career, away from "Genesis-the-Big")....as well as start new discussions as to what the album meant to YOU, the listener.
From all of us who collaborated on these videos....ENJOY!!
