You might be the most perfect woman I have come across, beautiful AND you understand Genesis and Gabriel.
The total package. Thank you (and The Musical Box) for keeping vintage Genesis alive. Joe ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Wow, Joe....I'm blushing, here! Thank you so very much for all those lovely compliments! I must admit that I really do know (and love) Genesis and Gabriel. Their music has really been a long-lived passion for me...integrating and settling into my 15-year-old's soul, in 1975, and not ever going away. Something I hear reflected to me, quite often these days, when meeting with others like us (a group that my buddy Tom Lord-Alge affectionately calls "The Faithful"...himself, definitely included! ;-) I'm just glad we have each other ...and the continuing tours of Gabriel, Hackett, The Security Project and The Musical Box (to name just a few)... with which to enter into Group Bliss, all together! I hope to run into you (all) at one of these many tour stops...it would be a blast to get/give a hug. ;-) Xoxo, Lil

Awesome work ! I am getting ready to see Steve Hackett in St. Charles Illinois on September 21st with my oldest daughter. I first saw genesis my senior yr of high school in April 1978, but I always loved the old songs. Whose idea was paper late ? Anyway, your analysis is a great fire up for what I know will be a great show. thanks again, Tom ~~~~~~~~~~ Hi, Tom ! How did your daughter like the GR2 concert, my friend? Were you in attendance at the Friday night or the Saturday night show? I was there for both nights with my two Analysis series collaborators Dave Kerzner (who guested on the keyboard section of "Supper's Ready: Apocalypse in 9/8") and recording engineer Tom Lord-Alge. We had a ball ! (see pics, below) As for the lyric "PaperLate (cried a voice, in the crowd)..." - it was Peter's lyric from the very allegorical, double-entendre'd "Dancing With The Moonlit Knight", ostensibly SEBTP's "title" track, in 1973. But, Phil - self-admittedly, never being very gifted at turning a good lyric - utilized that two-word phrase as a basis for the later pop tune that Genesis released in 1982, via EP entitled "3 x 3" (three tracks recorded by the remaining 3 Genesis musicians: Banks, Rutherford and Collins). Xoxo, Lil Sound of Contact's Dave Kerzner Hello LileighWhite Lilith (Leigh),
Your website and videos are wonderful. So much great Genesis background info and analysis. I've been enjoying your Lamb analysis videos. I still have more of them to watch. However, at this moment, I'm listening to Supper's Ready from Seconds Out on my computer. Not Peter, but I really think Phil did a great job on this album. The band is tight and I think the sound quality is good. Still, I'd rather be listening to The Lamb and Seconds Out on vinyl. I will later this evening. Anyway, Thanks for cool the videos and info. Cheers, Dan Seattle. WA. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Hello, dearest Dan (The Man from Seattle - my ancestral home)! I am really glad that you are digging all the videos and information on this little oasis of a Genesis-website of mine. I've obviously been away from it for a bit - to follow Hackett's GR2 Tour, as it visited the States - and to get some family responsibilities out of the way...but, am so happy to be back. Speaking of Hackett - my collaborators Tom and Jeff Lord-Alge...along with our buddy Mike Piera ..had a RIPPING time filming and interviewing Steve, on stage, following his soundcheck in Ridgefield, CT, in September. I was able to shoot my HD camera right down the NECK of his guitar - as he was playing many licks...it was mind-blowing ! I will be reaching to get that footage (and more) edited down as soon as I can - in and around the approaching holidays, I promise. As for Seconds Out, I really think it is as good as it gets - for that particular era of post-Gabriel Genesis! You're so right on about the "tightness" of the band...and the soaring nature of Phil's voice, now in the lead position. I admit I am partial to Nick Davis' 5.1 Re-Mix of "Seconds Out" - available within the "Genesis-Live" Box Set Collection. He and Tony did a real bang-up job on getting that cleaned up, re-built and re-mastered on the full surround-sound digital matrix. But, if you love to bounce back and forth to the warmer vinyl, from the cooler digital formats - why not?!? That is why it is NEVER wise to sell that great turntable we still all own! ;-D All my love...and good vibes, Lil Hi Lileigh, see the link: Genesis rehearsels of the 1982 reunion concert; you'll probably like it (or love it) but maybe you already know it.
Kind regards and keep up the good work (any new developments?) http://youtu.be/f2x51aIGAjE Erik ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ *Eyes closing in sheer ecstasy, in hearing this presentation* Bless ya, kind Erik ...for sending me this particular link to the 1982 Genesis Reunion rehearsal, with Peter and the boys. I know people who were there for the actual concert, that terribly rainy and difficult day....yet, as true early-Genesis fans,to have seen/heard that, in person - must have seen like a miraculous set of moments. How rare...and wondrous despite the technical problems (born of a very short rehearsal period). I read of how Hackett did his best to get there...and was able to step in, for just a little bit, in the final songs. At least we are able to enjoy the aural remnants of that unique day - thanks to the internet...and the kind, fellow fans who post them ( knowing there are others out here who appreciate it as much as we...) It serves as both an inspiration and comfort. My extended family has had a tough go of it, in this past year... But, I will be doing my best to get back to the thing I love doing the most...editing my videos. And, reading the encouraging comments everyone sends in, like yours, helps to get me back in the saddle of that White Horse I ride. ;-) Thank you again for sending me this link and your best wishes...it is more appreciated than you'll ever know. Xoxo, Lil Hi LWL,
I just found you on youtube and am looking forward to seeing more of your work. Joe ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Hi, Joe ~ Thank you kindly for checking out my series on YouTube. I'm doing my best to start back, in editing what work I still have in my raw-video coffers...in order to continue the re-edit of my Analysis: Lamb series. Life has had more insistent plans for my time, I'm afraid. It's time to start celebrating Life again, though, especially with Steve Hackett returning to North American with his superlative tours, following the inimitable Genesis: Revisited Tour !! ;-) All my best... Analysis: Chamber of 32 Doors - Part 1 YouTube: http://youtu.be/wUYoeUeg-r8 Analysis: Chamber of 32 Doors - Part 2 YouTube: http://youtu.be/eJfgDEE8BQI Analysis: Chamber of 32 Doors -Part 3 YouTube: http://youtu.be/piueJ_0N-Kk Analysis: Tom Lord-Alge & the Chamber of 32 Doors (alternate version of Part 1/Tom's intro) YouTube: http://youtu.be/CMOmxytrP5s http://www.lileighwhite.com/ *FOR SERIOUS LAMB FANATICS ONLY !!!* An Analysis of the many allegorical layers, written by Peter Gabriel, within the pivotal song "The Chamber of 32 Doors" on the original Lamb Lies Down on Broadway album. Jungian Archetype Theory, The Power of Myth's Hero's Journey and the Tibetan Book of the Dead provide the framework with which Gabriel wrote of his pending decision to leave Genesis. Add onto that the visual work of "El Topo" director Alejandro Jodorowsky, as Peter's inspiration - and you have one, very serious surrealistic work of art. WARNING/ADVISORY: This trilogy of videos are DEEP (because these metaphysical/psychoanalytical works were what Peter Gabriel had been reading up until the uber-rushed writing of The Lamb)! Although, he claims the lyrics are flawed - many still consider it a layered work of genius. Part Surrealism, Part Metaphysical, Part Self Psychoanalytical. These videos are the result of 2 years of intense research and many contributions by many people (several, quite close to Peter Gabriel & Genesis). As Tony Robinson wrote for the 1970-1975 Genesis Box Set: "It's a mistake to think of the narrative as only having one meaning because every listener must create their own personal story." This trilogy's analysis is not set in concrete. It is meant to elucidate upon the metaphysical texts by which Peter was reaching to obtain his own new pathway (out of the band and into his own solo career, away from "Genesis-the-Big")....as well as start new discussions as to what the album meant to YOU, the listener. From all of us who collaborated on these videos....ENJOY!! |
