Genesis fans in Texas...new club? (And, LAST CALL for The Musical Box's LLDOB Tour !!!)

HI,

I just learned about you and your Genesis related work.

It is quite interesting and impressive finding a girl, no disrespect, that enjoys Genesis like you do.
I actually do not know anybody in person that I can sit down and talk about Genesis to the extend that I want to.
I thought I was one of the few but there are many out there like me. I wish there was a club I could join so I could meet people in San Antonio Texas, where I live, that enjoy Genesis music like I do.
I would like to know if there are bands that tour that try to re-enact Genesis music; I would love to go to a concert.
Thanks for bringing this to us. Great job!

Sincerely, Pierre M.

Reply from Lil:
Hi, Pierre !

My most sincere apologies to you for this tardy reply...I was wrapping up my month-long (paid) indentured audio engineer servitude to the Colorado Rockies and Arizona Diamondbacks - during their Spring Training time, here in Arizona, last month.
Been having to catch up on all my family responsibilities since it ended on April 5th - rounding off 31 days STRAIGHT of engineering the sound for their spring training baseball games.
(I think I've have enough baseball to last a lifetime at this point!  *snicker, snort..mock snore*)

I'm so grateful you (along with all the other people who write me, here) are enjoying my Genesis video series. It is a personal, artistic joy for me to do - when I can get the time...and messages like yours make all the hard work worth it, I assure you!
Now, as for finding special "clubs" of people (who like to listen to Genesis) who also live in and around your area - I have no concrete answer.
My suggestion would be to post a "Group" page on Facebook or another more localized social media website (if you belong to one of them) ... and ask for others, in your area to meet up for a beer.  You'd be surprised who can come out of the woodwork - if you can brave up the initial posting.  I've had delightful luck with Genesis fans (like myself)..so, I have no problem recommending you do the same.
Now, as for your question as to Tribute bands who do justice to and emulate Genesis well.... you are in luck, my friend - but, for a VERY short amount of time, coming up next month.
The very finest (and only actually licensed group) to perform the early years of Genesis - is the world-renown Canadian band "The Musical Box".You may or may not have seen some of the videos I was lucky enough to shoot with them, last fall, as they came down the West Coast, through California, Arizona and on eastward.
They DID, indeed, play Texas - in October/November of last year...but, I can't remember if they reached San Antonio or Austin.
They are just returning from a long run (throughout the winter) in Europe and the U.K....and will be coming up the East Coast, starting in Florida, in the beginning of May.
They only have about 7 dates, at this point...so, if you want to see THE most unbelievably accurate recapitulation of The Lamb Lies Down On Broadway (complete with vintage era instruments, costumes..and copies of THE ACTUAL SLIDES designed by Peter Gabriel and used by Genesis during their 1974/75 tour)...I would HIGHLY recommend you fly over to Florida and enjoy their tour stop - before the tour (and the opportunity of seeing TMB's version LLDOB) shuts down completely for the next ??? years (maybe forever, in its current form).
It is well worth the plane ticket..and the time requested off from work.  ;-)

Here is the link to their website and the page with the listed, remaining dates.

Beyond that, the only other Genesis tribute bands are located in the U.K., Europe and in South America.  (Though there IS said to be some  folks rehearsing for a musical night of  Trick of the Tail/Wind and Wuthering songs, up in the Northwestern U.S., later this summer (details to follow)
But, it will not be something which offers costumes or vintage instruments.  Only fine, Genesis-loving musicians getting together to have a well-rehearsed "Go" at it !)
All my best,
xoxo Lil

*FOR SERIOUS LAMB FANATICS ONLY !!!*

A
n Analysis of the many allegorical layers, written by Peter Gabriel, within the pivotal song "The Chamber of 32 Doors" on the original Lamb Lies Down on Broadway album.

Jungian Archetype Theory, The Power of Myth's Hero's Journey and the Tibetan Book of the Dead provide the framework with which Gabriel wrote of his pending decision to leave Genesis.
Add onto that the visual work of "El Topo" director Alejandro Jodorowsky, as Peter's inspiration - and you have one, very serious surrealistic work of art.

WARNING/ADVISORY:   This trilogy of videos are DEEP (because these metaphysical/psychoanalytical works were what Peter Gabriel had been reading up until the uber-rushed writing of The Lamb)!
Although, he claims the lyrics are flawed - many still consider it a layered work of genius.
Part Surrealism, Part Metaphysical, Part Self Psychoanalytical.

These videos are the result of 2 years of intense research and many contributions by many people (several, quite close to Peter Gabriel & Genesis).

As Tony Robinson wrote for the 1970-1975 Genesis Box Set: "It's a mistake to think of the narrative as only having one meaning because every listener must create their own personal story."
This trilogy's analysis is not set in concrete.  It is meant to elucidate upon the metaphysical texts by which Peter was reaching to obtain his own new pathway (out of the band and into his own solo career, away from "Genesis-the-Big")....as well as start new discussions as to what the album meant to YOU, the listener.
From all of us who collaborated on these videos....ENJOY!!
